About William C. Berg
The NCGA-BASF college scholarship program is named in honor of Ohio farmer William C. Berg. A retired postal worker and farmer for more than 40 years, Bill served in various positions for both the Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association and the National Corn Growers Association. He tirelessly carried the agriculture message to Washington, DC year after year, where he sat face-to-face with congressmen and senators to lobby for sound agriculture policy on behalf of his fellow farmers. Bill passed away unexpectedly in 2012 and NCGA and Ohio Corn wished to honor his legacy. Program recipients can be proud to receive a scholarship honoring this staunch supporter of modern American agriculture.
NCGA understands the role of research and scientific discovery in production agriculture. We are proud to recognize the hard work and contributions of today’s graduate students who are working in the critical areas of Digital/Precision Ag, Germplasm/Breeding, Agronomy, Crop Protection and Sustainability.
To recognize their efforts, we will award one $2,500 scholarship to a graduate student who who’s area of study will benefit the corn sector. The 2020 winner will attend the Corn Utilization and Technology Conference (CUTC) June 1 – 3, 2020 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Increasingly recognized as an important industry networking event, CUTC offers attendees the chance to meet hundreds of key contacts across the corn value chain and learn how new technologies will enhance the value of corn: n new presentations on new starch uses, resistant starch and nutrition, biopolymers and higher valued products such as nutraceuticals. The Gary Lamie Graduate Student Poster Competition will showcase the latest student research and provide students an opportunity to network and advance their careers.
Increasingly recognized as an important industry networking event, CUTC offers attendees the chance to meet hundreds of valuable business contacts, identify potential new customers and learn how new technologies will enhance the value of corn.
